FORT CARSON BANK ROBBERY - SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
By Nikkole Marietta | OCTOBER 7, 2018
Silent Alarms were triggered inside the bank at 10:30pm, prompting immediate response from the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department. Two subjects entered the bank - one with a Type 56 Norinco assault rifle, the second with an AR-15. They approached the counter and demanded $100,000. No shots were fired, and the pair entered a four door sedan with a third person, fleeing the scene. A statewide pursuit lasted two hours before ending in Downtown Los Santos. All three subjects were apprehended without further incident, and no shots were fired from other side.
The suspects have been identified as James Gunnarson, 25, James Friday, 29, and James Newell, 31. All three men have residences in East Los Santos. We have learned that James Newell is a former police officer in the San Fierro PD, where he was discharged for misconduct. It is unclear as to what charges the District Attorney's office will be pursuing for the suspects for their alleged participation.
Sheriff Ezio Poldilotta was reached with a comment from his office:
"Deputies received a silent alarm alert from the Fort Carson Bank on Wilderness Ave. at approximately 10:30 PM. We immediately responded and the first deputy arrived at the bank at 10:33 PM. Shortly after the first deputy arrived, two armed subjects fled the bank on foot and entered a vehicle. A deputy gave pursuit on the vehicle away from the bank. The Special Enforcement Bureau eventually joined the pursuit and ensured the apprehension of all suspects.
Several deputies remained at the scene of the bank to assist victims and take statements. No deputy or bystander was injured throughout the incident."
