Gym Owner Receives Death Threats Over Bets
By Katherine Lawson | August 3, 2018
On August 1, 2018, GNAG Gym owner Jack McCurdy hosted a match between the boxers Paul "Knuckles" Vincenti and Daniel "DDM" Coulter. The gym moved from East Los Santos to Richman for "the safety of the people." The match finished in a 6-2 triumph for Vincenti, however, the fascinating part is the wagering held. People were betting on their favorites and before every bet, McCurdy made sure to give them the specified odds for each player and that bets are not to exceed the maximum amount of $2,500. In which they agreed as they continued to place their bets.
As the match closed, the people who won their wagers were paid in the amount they were expected to receive given the odds for Vincenti which was at 1.2. Be that as it may, a man began yelling to have been scammed by the owner in spite of being paid $3,000 because of his wager being $2,500. The man attracted attention and the other winners also began to complain and shout. After a few moments, the people began threatening McCurdy, claiming that he should give them the double amount of their bets. Luckily, a deputy was present at the gym and he was able to stop them from creating more chaos. They were removed from the venue and the gym was forced to be closed.
McCurdy has given SAN an official statement about the incident: "We delivered the right amount. I told them the odds of the bets in the beginning. We know that we may have misunderstandings sometimes, but the fault is not on our side but theirs, please do not blame us for your wrongs."

If a round is judged to be even, it is scored 10-10. For each knockdown in a round, the judge deducts an additional point from the fighter knocked down, resulting in a 10-8 score if there is one knockdown or a 10-7 score if there are two knockdowns.
