A former Los Angeles District Attorney had this to say on the group "KUMI 415 NATION is an expansive and violent prison gang which has documented members in every prison within California. It's currently been moving onto the streets of California specifically, the Bay area along with moving into the prison systems of surrounding states.

SAN ANDREAS - KUMI 415 NATION also known as KUMI A.N.O. ( African National Organization ) is an African-American prison gang that was formed in the 1980s at San Quentin State Prison by Leonard “Mousy Brown” Fulgham and a group of other Black Guerilla Family members who were dissatisfied with the current state of the BGF. Initially, it only recruited black inmates from the Bay Area, but now it recruits any black inmates they deem fit of membership.

For the first decade or more of its existence, KUMI was one of the main rivals of the Black Guerilla Family but it has since became the primary enforcement group for the BGF on the yard. This is due to the fact most BGF members spend their entire sentence in solitary confinement. Many top KUMI leaders or Executive Body Council (EBC) members have become Black Guerrilla members, although some older KUMI members still hold grudges against the BGF. KUMI's structure is split into two divisions the first being the aforementioned Executive Body Council (EBC) inside the EBC it's split into Commanders, Captains, and Lieutenants. These are the men calling the shot from inside every prison and the ones ordering the murders. Below the EBC you have the lower division which is the Echelon Golden Chain, or EGC. The ranks are the same as in EBC, the higher division: commander, captain, and lieutenant. However, these are the men who are carrying out and passing along the orders of the EBC. You also have foot soldiers which are full-fledged members of KUMI but hold no rank.

The first inklings of KUMI inside San Andreas can be traced back to 1999, Micah "Lucifer" James a California KUMI member who was arrested whilst driving through San Andreas with several kilos of cocaine and heroin. James was sentenced to seven years in High Desert State Prison, in here James contacted California based members and was given permission to set up a regiment inside of San Andreas. At the time no Black group dominated the San Andreas system due to the chokehold the Aryan Brotherhood along with the Mexican Mafia had on San Andreas yards. The Black Guerrilla Family and several homegrown gangs such as the "Black Control," "United Black Nation" and "Heartless Felons" attempted to form within the system but fell victim to the two dominant groups or infighting amongst Black prisoners. By 2003 KUMI A.N.O, was recognized as a serious threat and members were transferred to other prisons within the state. This backfired as other KUMI regiments set up in several other prisons across the state. Since then KUMI has very slowly spread within the state with documented members inside of every prison within the State of San Andreas, with the San Andreas Correctional Facility being the last.

Recently, however, KUMI has seen its peak in terms of activity within the state's prison system. The group in several prisons across the state has gotten increasingly more aggressive towards other prison gangs and it even it's own members. Much of this can be placed onto the fact that the San Andreas Government has been focusing its investigations of prison groups almost solely on slowing down the Mexican Mafia and Aryan Brotherhood, this brief period of diminished power may have led to KUMI jumping out in an attempt to grab it. The San Andreas Correctional Facility is where much of the violence has occurred.

On December 2nd, 2018 in the San Andreas Correctional Facility 65 inmates,

were involved in a riot on the A/B yard. A group of white inmates and a group of Black inmates were on the yard following a several day lockdown when the white inmates charged at the Black group. A full-scale riot broke out, SACF staff responded quickly using non-lethal impact rounds and OC pepper grenades to get the yard back under control in about five minutes. Several inmates were injured, however, Leroyce Collier a well respected KUMI A.N.O foot soldier was stabbed over a dozen times and was pronounced dead an hour later inside of a nearby hospital.

Another incident inside of SACF occurred when Demetrius 'Demon' Byrne a reputed ranking KUMI A.N.O member brutally murdered a Sureño inmate. The Black inmates and the Sureño inmates had been at war and an order was delivered by the KUMI EBC that it was "on sight" with any Sureño inmate they run into. Bryne was in his cell when a Sureño inmate whose name has not been released per family request, walked up to Demetrius's cell on the upper tier and attempted to converse. Byrne took out a crudely made prison shank and aiming for the Sureño inmates Bryne sliced the carotid artery open, the ordeal only lasted around forty-five seconds. But in that time period, Bryne was able to stab the victim over thirty-five times before being taken down by non-lethal impact rounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Just last week inside the Ironlake State Prison AD-SEG, an improper transfer of inmates allowed for a DeMarcus Pierce a KUMI EBC to attack Evan Delaney a Nazi Low Rider. The two inmates who typically would never be allowed near each other were both being escorted at the same time due to a mistimed transfer, the two instantly broke free of the Correctional Officers grasp and charged at each other. With both their hands cuffed, the two used anything on their body as a weapon, this included biting, headbutts and knees to the body. Incidents such as this are proving that KUMI A.N.O is making a ploy to become a top prison gang within San Andreas, whether it can become successful in that venture or not is yet to be seen.

Re: The Black Car

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS OUT OF CHARACTER
WRITTEN BY LA BONHEUR (CLARENCE TILLMAN)
The Black Car in the San Andreas Correctional Facility (SACF)

In SACF, the black inmate population is mainly constituted of heavy gang members, killers, thieves, and drug dealers. With many obstacles and dangers coming from their own population and other races, inmates are venerable to assaults and thief attacks stemming from their own surroundings, therefore they’re forced to band up under forces and cliques to protect themselves. With gang members representing the majority of the population, they’re known to organize themselves under their street-earned affiliations and socialize under their own respective areas.

As a whole, the black inmate population is more discriminated by affiliations when compared to other races, and that’s due to each set and their rivalries with one another on the outside world. The most notable black gangs or 'cars' in the San Andreas Correctional Facility (SACF) are The Black Guerrilla Family, Bloods, Crips, Groove liners (Hoover Criminals), Kumi African National Organization, and the late Zulu Tribe.

Internally, every car holds their own perimeter, organizes their own selves under a unique code and structure, and conducts their own politics with other races, and more commonly, each one of them is believed to have a shot caller whom orchestrates things for the group and settles politics with other sets within the black population. Moreover, inmates spread to many other cars which are based off of the areas they come from and that’s how they generally socialize on a daily basis. For instance, Blood-affiliated inmates of different sets from East Los Santos band up together under the East Los Car, and others from West Los Santos make up the West Los Car, and so on. It is believed that the organization was designed to make it easier for inmates to recognize one another whom are from the same area.

Occasionally, black street gangs are known in the prison facility for having internal conflicts with each other, which mostly end up in fights, stabbings, and large scale brawls, until the respective shot-callers settles the conflict with each other and meet minds, and tries to come up with solutions to the conflict. But when it comes to a race-wide conflict or a war, every car is expected to partake in what could possibly occur. And during that time, every black inmate is supposed to back his fellow black inmate, regardless of what car or code he’s representing.

Prison gangs are also very influential, each one of them tends to recruit newer unaffiliated, and sometimes even affiliated inmates into their structures and under their code, and that plays a bigger role in stretching their power throughout the facility. What also makes them so powerful is their control and involvement in many aspects of prison, spanning from economical resources to social status and their relationship with staff personnel.

Black prison gangs’ economical resources mainly stem from illegitimate activities, and the most prominent one is drug dealing, which tend to produce hundreds of thousands of dollars each month for its distributors. Black inmates used to mostly get a hold of illicit substances such as Marijuana and Crack Cocaine, but nowadays with the rise of numerous methods to smuggle drugs into the facilities, inmates could easily access to any substance they wish to possess and distribute. In addition, staff personnel plays a vital part in smuggling a big portion of these drugs into prison if they end up with a good deal with the inmates or gangs, which makes it even more difficult for The San Andreas Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (SADCR) to combat the big substance flow into their yards.

Kumi African National Organization (K.A.N.O)

Kumi African National Organization, also referred to as Kumi Nation or Kumi 415, is a predominantly African-American criminal organization that was originally founded in Folsom State Prison by Leonard “Mousey Brown” Fulgham and a few other members of The Black Guerrilla Family. Prior to the creation of KUMI, the founding members became unsatisfied with the BGF leadership and codes, so they broke away from BGF and formed 415 KUMI A.N.O., which is the area code of California’s Bay Area. They began using the Swahili word “KUMI”, meaning “10”, (the sum of 415 is 10).

The organization have expanded and spread to many other prisons and states, and in High Desert State Prison alone, the gang has over 300 validated members and associates. In addition, KUMI has a structure of higher and lower divisions and ranks within those divisions, The Executive Body Council (EBC) is the higher division and it is responsible for overseeing The Echelon Golden Chain, which is the lower division. Fulgham had authority over everyone in K.A.N.O up until his death. He only communicated with a selected few EBC commanders and members who aren’t incarcerated. EBC members are required to pay frequent dues, and each member who participates in activities designed to make money receives a cut of the proceeds, although most of it went to EBC members and a percentage to Fulgham. After Fulgham's death the K.A.N.O. was ruled by a body of generals; EBC commanders in different prisons who are in communication with one another through various means. Currently the gang is in good standing with the Black Guerrilla Family once more with exception to several older members and is known to act as the Family's main enforcers and recruitment pool.

The gang has been known for only bringing black inmates from California’s Bay Area under their structures, but now recruits from Black gangs all over California and nearby states. KUMI’s primary activities in prison are assaults and possession of drugs for sale. In the streets, their primary activity is generating money through robberies and drugs and firearm distribution. Moreover, the organization has been attempting to legitimize a sum of their earnings; therefore, they’ve launched a few legitimate businesses throughout the areas they populate.

In addition, KUMI is known for having multiple relationships with different cars within prison facilities and even on the outside world, and recently they have been in very good terms with The Blood, Crip, and Zulu car in San Andreas Correctional Facility (SACF). Furthermore, there have been multiple situations where correctional officers cooperated with the organization and conducted deals with them, and it is believed that their main source of contraband is corrupt personnel.

Zulu Tribe

Zulu Tribe is a clique that has its origins in High Desert State Prison, SA. The group’s core numbers are made up exclusively of men from African American descent, however they have shown to extend protection to the occasional Pacific Islander in the past.

They appear to be a relatively new group, first identified by gang officers among the general population of High Desert Correctional Facility in the year 2014. They were first made aware of their name due to a single incident where a black inmate was brutally beaten by the gang, likely as a result of his low standing with fellow inmates due to his status as a sex offender. Upon requesting protective custody, he revealed the existence of the group to institutional investigators and pointed out its key figures.

The gang later spread out to nearby state and federal prisons including San Andreas Correctional Facility, which resulted in a significant increasing in their membership, it is also believed that KUMI’s EBC commanders initially formed the gang in an effort to reinforce their structures after a series of segregations that hindered the organization’s activities and income, KUMI has also utilized Zulu Tribe’s human resources as a recruiting pool for their organization as well.

Just like the majority of prison cliques, Zulu Tribe’s activities span from assaults, to drug dealing, and on certain yards, they even control the gambling game, which strengthens their economic and social power. The gang is believed to exclusively recruit unaffiliated black inmates into their structures, but occasionally there have been instances were Crips or Bloods end up being recruited into the gang in certain circumstances.

Kushin' wrote: As a faction and a gathering of black prison roleplayers, what we're trying to portray is a realistic prison environment constituted of different cars and cliques. The main purpose behind the fundamental organization of the faction is to educate players on how to properly roleplay a black felon behind prison bars. Aside from the two established prison cliques (KUMI & Zulu Tribe) we create a welcoming environment for other factions to join in on the roleplay in SACF. We encourage them to add another dimension to their faction by giving their members the opportunity to add more depth to their characters through roleplaying in a realistic prison setting.

How does my character fit in?
There are several ways to go about roleplaying with us. If you're making a new character and your aim is to join the prison gang itself, we advise that you roleplay a character without any existing gang affiliations. The Zulu Tribe is the dominant group in SACF's general population. It primarily takes in inmates with no prior affiliation, hence if your aim is to join them you are advised to roleplay your character as such. KUMI is primarily a Bay Area gang. It uses the Zulu Tribe as a recruitment pool, so if your objective is to join KUMI your best shot is to roleplay being from the Bay Area (San Fierro/Francisco, or Bayside/Oakland) and either try to RP yourself into the gang directly, or through the Zulu Tribe.

If you are in an existing faction that functions outside of prison, we advise you to roll with your designated car. (Crip, Blood, Hoover ect.) Some factions chose to have OG characters / alts locked up with us, who then provide roleplay to their members whenever they get locked up. It creates a nice realistic environment of different cliques under one roof.

NOTE: RPing being from the Bay Area does /not/ get you fast-tracked into KUMI in any way. It just gives you the right background to eventually do so.

How to get in touch?
We have a Black Car Discord server where everyone that roleplays a black convict is welcome. Whether you are trying to join the faction, or are in a different faction / just passing through. If you're serious about giving prison roleplay a shot, add Panda.#9844 on Discord and ask for an invite. We have different roles for crips, bloods, hoovers, pirus, unaffiliated ect to promote a proper car system.
