I like their new drummer, though, Mike Mangini.

Yeah, same. I haven't really enjoyed their latest album - sadly. :/

It's a shame Portnoy left, his live performance was outstanding. I can't comment on the new one, yet.

Mike Mangini is GREAT live as well. Very very entertaining. However, of course - I'd love Portnoy to stay. He's irreplaceable.

Ugh, hearing The Enemy Inside really put the hammer on the nail for me; they need Portnoy to make good music :/.

They're stuck in the same type of hole that they dug with their latest album. It sounds dull, and the vocals are really boring (metallic), it sounds like another song from 'A Dramatic Turn of Events'. And whenever they go instrumental, they go all nuts, instead of keeping a red string attached thorough the entire song. It bugs me, because before, Dream Theater never ever disappointed me with their new albums. Like, Octavarium, Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds and Silver Linings. When Black Clouds & Silver Linings came out, I felt like "THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD SOUND". The quality was phenomenal; NO album has ever sounded that perfect, and the styles were epic, the songs were at great length, the lyrics were great...

Ah well.. we'll see. This was just the single.

Dream Theater have a lot of good songs who were really well written and composed.

Progressive metal is a kind of metal you are always looking for, because it's always different, instead of other genres as Punk rock, where you have a certain progression of chords. (Example: The most used in Punk Rock: I-V-VI-IV progression).
(Not saying that Punk Rock is bad, just giving an example).

It's a shame Mike left tho, loved his techniques.

I can sense how the music died out a bit since Portnoy left. It's a shame. :/

Yeah, Portnoy's rhytmic sections are great.
