It's all about picking the right quote. I browsed through a couple when I first bought my 207 and it varied between £2000 and £5200 on different sites. I'd say it's necessary for all first time drivers to go with a company that fits a blackbox into your vehicle as it'll reduce your quote by a lot.

Small update on my insurance price. Called them again and finalized a deal on my renewal. It's dropped from £2500 at the start of the policy to £560 within a year of sticking to the guidelines that were set with my blackbox.

Model: 207 GTi
Year: 2007
Engine (1.6L etc): 1.6 Diesel

Correct. I got overwhelming results on my blackbox rating and I've still got my no claims bonus.

Did you use gocompare or what? My insurance is £710 at the moment but I want it cheaper.

I've got 3 years no claims, older than you, 1.4litre and you're not far off of me in price.

I just chose the best deal on gocompare.

It is my first car, insured it with a Tesco black box policy, probably the cheapest out there right now.

That was with Directline actually, last time it was with Admiral multi-car. Either of them two are cheaper than comparison sites.
