Los Santos Roleplay turns twelve today. Usually we start these posts off with a bit of a cliche and compare the amount of time to other milestones. This year is no different. While the server was around, Jupiter managed to make it all the way around the sun. It's been around longer than half of my life. It's been around before you were even born.
First and foremost I'd like to give a huge shoutout to everyone who contributes to keeping the community running. Our administrators, testers, mappers, modders, developers and factions. I say this every time, but you're why LS-RP is what it is today.
Before I move on to the main gift I've to offer on this occasion, I'd like to address recent changes in the Development Team. I've not been the frontman of our game development for quite a while now. Lately, Davis has stepped in to fill these shoes and I've been thrilled to see his interest in both the community and the technological challenges our gamemode and server face. For those reasons and many others, I'm happy to announce his new position
Head of Game Development
To accompany Davis' adventures, I'd also like to welcome two new developers joining our team. Welcome -- I'm curious to see what you will bring to the table.
In early 2018, I've naively chosen a new website as my next project. Now, over a year later - a time in which I've managed to switch jobs and move - it's still not done. It's pretty damn close, though. The site aims to bring a more seamless experience for everyone - new players, seasoned veterans and staff. Parts of it I'm very proud of, it contains bits that the SA-MP scene has never seen before.
The site was up for testing with the staff team for the past couple of months. This weekend we'd like to open the site for players as a private beta. Please send me a private message titled "Website Beta" with your LS-RP account name (the one you log in game with, not character name). The only requirements are that you aren't currently banned, are in good standing with the community and have access to the email your account is linked to. We'll be allowing 100 players to test it in the first week, then hopefully open it to everyone after that.
The current UCP
As much as I don't want to do so, we'll need to keep the current website up for a transition period. Some of the features aren't backwards compatible (applications, premium features) and will require a migration process. I'd like to see us fully switching to the new site within 4-6 weeks however.

With the website, several notable changes or ideologies are underway. Some will take longer to implement than others, but all in all they should happen in the span of a few weeks. I'm gonna announce those separately when they're ready to be rolled out.
Summer is coming
With the announcement and teasing out of the way, I've been thinking long and hard about how to keep LS-RP fresh. It's no secret that SA-MP is no longer peaking and there's more effort needed to get new players interested in the server. I've a lot of newfound energy and drive for the community and plan on spending it experimenting with it to see how far we can push what we all have created over the years. I believe the next year is going to be crucial for the community's longevity, so fuck a steady ship, let's rock it.
All in all - happy birthday, LS-RP. I'm very excited for this summer - I foresee it's going to be a fun one.
